What about August Turkey? The hottest sun, the highest prices and the busiest hotels! Where is the best place to go and when to deal with all this?

August is the peak of the holiday season, everyone knows that. As well as the fact that the majority go on vacation to Turkey, which implies warmth, the sea, and fruits. However, what remains unknown is the following: at night not to unstick from the air conditioner, during the day not to wander through the ruins of interest, and in the morning - oh, horror! - sometimes you can't find a free sunbed.

Getting started planning your trip? 🙂 Turkey in August for all inclusive, of course, is more expensive than in June-July, but not significantly - from 42,000 rubles for two. You can verify this by comparing the cost of tours for all tour operators at once:

  • Travelata
  • Level.Travel
  • Onlinetours

For me, these are the number 1 services for finding profitable vouchers. They analyze what tour operators have for the required dates and for the given "wishes", and show the lowest possible prices.

Weather in Turkey in August

The weather in Turkey in August can knock even experienced holiday-makers out of action. The air temperature on the Mediterranean coast (Kemer, Side, Alania) in early and mid-August often exceeds + 35 ° C. And at night it drops only to + 28 ° C ... + 30 ° C. Plus, VERY high humidity.

What is it: I am writing this text in a Greek tavern, chilling in the pleasant breeze, and with a shudder I remember my trip to Side in August. Probably, the street thermometer broke down - it stubbornly reached + 45 ° C. And in the evening I turned into a wet napkin for the first 5 minutes outside the hotel and desperately tried to create at least some semblance of a breeze with my hand / bag / room key.

In the resorts of the Aegean Sea (Marmaris, Bodrum), temperatures are slightly more benign (+ 34 ° C during the day and + 24 ° C at night). The climate here is drier, and the heat is more easily tolerated (this feature and reviews of tourists confirm this). It is worth hoping for a "cold snap" at the end of August: after the 25th, the degrees drop to +34 (Mediterranean Sea).

Where is the warmer sea in August?

On this beach we spent our vacation in Side (walk from our Side Town Hotel about 4 minutes)

Turkey in August is good for those who find the water temperature comfortable from + 25 ° C. You can swim everywhere, but where is the sea warmer?

- Mediterranean: the water feels almost the same from resort to resort and approaches + 30 ° C. Imagine, you run to freshen up - and the sea is like plunging into a bath.
- Aegean: colder, + 25 ° C ... + 27 ° C, but nevertheless - this is where it is better to rest without the risk of overheating.

Where to relax in Turkey in August? Resort selection

Pay attention to a few points:

  • prices for holidays in Turkey in August are nowhere higher. To save money, you will have to consider budget resorts (Kemer, Alanya)
  • hotels are sold out, beaches are crowded. A week before departure, there will not be much of decent options, so you should think about a voucher at least a month in advance.
  • high temperature in humid climates. If this point is significant, then, when deciding where to relax in Turkey in August, I recommend going towards the Aegean Sea (Marmaris, Bodrum, Kusadasi)
  • if possible, avoid city hotels (found in Antalya and Alanya). Yes, they can be cheaper, but it is much better to wait out the heat in a shady area or by the pool under an umbrella, and not surrounded by stone and concrete

Which resort to choose in Turkey?

Inexpensive Alanya

A place where you can always find an economy offer, even during peak season. Other indisputable advantages are wide sandy beaches (the best is Cleopatra's beach) and a very warm sea, a large Water Planet water park, and the city's infrastructure.

Disadvantages: 2 hours by bus from the airport, "bald" in terms of nature and the need to carefully choose a hotel (most of which, moreover, are located across the highway from the beach).

Child Side

While vacationing in Side in May, we made sure that the resort is ideal for both adults and children. We liked it here more than in Kemer

These are, first of all, sandy beaches with a gentle long entry, which is ideal for children. And also the ancient old city, cascading down to the sea, which has preserved fragments of buildings and temples, which is interesting for adults. And a fast transfer from the airport!

Decent hotels (especially Sueno Hotels Beach Side, which saved my vacation), quality service, but some have a small area. Of the minuses - perhaps the price; early booking clearly applies to Side.

Laksheri Belek

We went to The Lend of Legends water park in Belek from Side

The epitome of all the luxury of the resort is the super-expensive Max Royal, a tour where it costs five times six figures, and well-groomed golf courses (where sports stars often drop in). Belek is closest to the airport; sandy beaches, at the entrance - a strip of small pebbles.

Suitable for a relaxed family vacation, which can be diluted with a trip to the coolest water park The Land of Legends. Upscale 5-star hotels negate any minor imperfections, be it muddy water (due to sand) or rough seas.

Natural Kemer

Our one day trip to Kemer: walked along the embankment, looked at the beaches, ate delicious baklava (below is a detailed text about Kemer from my sister, who rested there, and even more cool photos :))

Mountainous, forested Kemer is a must-visit for fans of the smell of pine needles in the air and the shade of pine trees on the shore. What are the benefits? Inexpensive, not long from the airport, many bars and discos, and the sand does not stick - instead of it there are pebbles (somewhere fine, pleasant, somewhere larger). But the water is clean and transparent!

The fat minus in July and August is, oddly enough, mountains. Not a single breath of wind, and in combination with the exorbitant humidity, tourists have a very difficult time.

European Bodrum

We also visited Bodrum and wrote a detailed article about the resort

A resort where it is warm, not deadly hot: thanks to the dry climate of the Aegean coast and the sea breeze. There is also a youthful fun, partying and, of course, picturesque - white houses in the Greek style, scattered on the rock, a large marina with yachts and an ancient fortress.

Thumbs down for a narrow beach, a sharp approach and - for whom as - a lack of Russian-speaking staff. While Bodrum is more for Europeans 🙂

Prices for tours to Turkey in August 2021

Go to Travelata (a service for booking tours) and see:

✓ Prices for Turkey in August in 2021 start at 45,000 rubles per week for two (all inclusive), if we consider 4 and 5 star hotels on the Mediterranean. "Treshki" - from 40,000 rubles. Yes, it is more expensive than in the summer of 2021 in general, but more budgetary than in European countries under similar conditions.

✓ All inclusive tours to the Aegean Sea at a higher cost - from 55,000 rubles.

Good news: as my friends-comrades, vacationing exclusively at the end of summer, reported to me, and as the reviews of tourists show, Turkey depreciates in August since the 25th (but! prices drop 3-5 days before this date). Those. there is such an advantageous gap (which is ignored by parents with schoolchildren - aka the main fans of Turkey), lasting until September 1.

It was me, a dunce, who took my tour from Moscow in six months, but it turns out, this is how it was possible 🙂 So, if you want to travel inexpensively and are not burdened with preparation for school / university - that is, it makes sense to wait (including a hot tour ).

Entertainment in Turkey - what to do?

Our one day excursion to the island of Symi

Consider the degrees outside! In the heat, they still prefer to spend time by the water, in the shade, in the hamam, after all.

It is unlikely that you will like, for example, climbing the funicular to the fortresses of Alanya - although the views are beautiful there - but at + 40 ° C among the stones, and even the steps ... If you dare, here are the details:

  • cable car to the lower fortress Ehmedek (18 lire round trip) + a hundred steps up
  • by bus No. 4 (3 lira) to the upper fortress - Ich Kala, a relaxed descent on foot to Ehmedek and to the ground by cable car (14 lira). Entrance to both fortresses is 15 liras, but, it seems, for the first option, the lower one is free

Since Side is a resort "stronghold" of the ancient cultural heritage of Turkey, then the entertainment is appropriate here. Walk in Aspendos, with an operating amphitheater, will be released at 25 lire. You can wander into ancient Seleucia.

The capital of the Turkish Riviera - Antalya - has everything that a large city should have. You can highlight a huge oceanarium, visit from $ 33, and shopping - leather, fur, etc.

Kemer - the starting point of the route to the remains of the Lycian state (pirate Olympus city - 5 lire), the fiery mountain Chimera - 7 lire, the cozy village of Cirali. And to take a breath of fresh air, it is worth taking the cable car to Mount Tahtali - from $ 40.

But from Bodrum there is an opportunity to sail on Greek Islands without Schengen! Rhodes, Kos, Patmos, Simi - the price starts at $ 40 per person round trip + a single visa on site for € 35.

Well, and the standard prices for sightseeing and entertainment holidays in Turkey in August:

  • Pamukkale - $ 50
  • Hamam - $ 15-20
(I advise you to look at the prices of Tripster for these two entertainments, it can be more profitable than from a tour operator)
  • Trip to Antalya - $ 30
  • The Land of Legends Waterpark - $ 60 for an adult, $ 48 for a child
  • Diving - $ 45-55

Holidays in Turkey with children in August

Turkey in August with children can be a severe test. The holiday season is in full swing, the number of people is overwhelming, and the sand on the beach is already hot by 10-11 o'clock, so it is worth including an afternoon siesta in your daily routine.

Hotels with animation come to the rescue: on the Mediterranean coast, there are activities for children in many "fours" and "fives", at least in its infancy in the form of an evening disco "top leg, clap handle". But on the Aegean Sea, things are worse with this.

Based on reviews of Turkey in August, there are no outbreaks of infections.

Where is the best place in Turkey with children in August?

Where to go with the child? If long sandy beaches and smooth entry into the water are a priority, definitely in Side or Belek. For a more active pastime - Alanya (as already mentioned, water parks for children).

BUT! The most temperature-friendly resort is Bodrum >>
and its quieter suburbs (Gumbek). If the heat comes at the very beginning of summer, then Turkey will be a steam room in August. Therefore, if prices permit, going to Bodrum for all inclusive is a wise decision.

Turkey in August - all inclusive

Turkey in August 2021 is a real tidbit for those who yearn for a vacation. Prices for vouchers, in comparison with other countries, warm the soul, and the popular here "all inclusive" guarantees a serene relaxation.

Of course, the quality of food depends, first of all, on the hotel. But what can be said about the August all inclusive in the general context: fruits are generously displayed on the tables! Already at the beginning of August in Turkey - ripe, and definitely sweet, watermelons and melons, peaches and grapes, and strawberries that came to the rescue. A phenomenon to the people of pineapple is also possible 🙂

Pros and cons of rest

Pros:

+ Turkey in August is a 100% beach holiday. The weather is hot, the sea is warm, I don't feel like getting out from under the umbrella into the city / on excursions
+ Vacation prices in Turkey are still lower than in other summer countries
+ Lots of seasonal fruits

Minuses:

- Burns, heatstrokes and similar "delights" of a health-resort traveler are very likely. Scorching sun and stuffiness! The exception is the Aegean coast.
- The quality of food in hotels is not always at a high level, and the need for uninterrupted service in August - the peak of the season - can also aggravate the situation (especially in economy hotels)
- The beaches are overcrowded, and sometimes it is difficult to find an empty sunbed (do you know about the "glorious" tradition of occupying it with a towel for the whole day, like "I just left to swim"? :))

Reject but offer, right? If I scared you with a hot weather forecast, then here are 2 countries, in the first of which - in August it is sooo good and not stuffy, and in the second - winds blow, diluting the temperatures:

  • Montenegro >>
  • Greece >>
